Summer Learning Journey: Teaser Week

Just like last year, students between Year 3- 6 are doing the Summer Learning Journey. Our clan, Ako Hiko, has other schools that are included in this as well as my school. If you don't know the Summer Learning Journey, it's a programme to help students maintain their reading and writing level. This year will have a dash of maths to it. According to research, a number of students lose their reading and writing levels and by next year, they'll have to learn it all over again! That is why they created the programme. To prevent this.

If you're wondering what Teaser week, it's when you do activities, like the Summer Learning Journey except it's before the summer break. You could choose from the many subjects to research who or what greatly represents it in a google drawing. My subject I chose was environments + exploration. I researched about this organisation called The Water Project.

  1. Kia Ora Abigail, I hope you are having a good day!

My name is Eliza and I’m working as a blog commenter on the Summer Learning Journey this summer. Have you done the Summer Learning Journey before? I’m looking forward to reading your posts and the other bloggers' posts from the Ako Hiko cluster, over the next few weeks! If you want to know more about me, you can check out my blog.

Thank you for your blog post about The Water Project, what an amazing organisation! Your description of what they do was very clear and informative. I can also see that you’ve attributed your image - that is fantastic, ka pai! However, for your other activities just make sure you post the actual link where you found the image, so that it is attributed 100% correctly and we know exactly where you found it :)

I’ve visited some countries like India and Thailand where you have to boil the water before you drink it or buy bottled water from the store, which takes a lot more effort than just getting it out of the tap! Aren’t we lucky to live in New Zealand where our water is clean and healthy! Water is my favourite drink funnily enough, what is yours?

Thank you so much for writing such an awesome post about The Water Project, I really enjoyed reading it. I hope that you will keep blogging with us over the summer. Keep working on the teaser week activities and on the 16th of December you can start the Week 1 activities.

Have a great rest of your day and keep up the awesome mahi!
    Eliza :)
