Gumboot Friday and Letterbox Drop Tuesday

Last week, we had Gumboot Friday. Just in case you don’t know,
Gumboot Friday is when you
wear gumboots and can give money to charity.
To raise awareness about mental health .
Mental health is about your brain, if you think good thoughts
about yourself, it can change
you entirely in a good way.  The reason they encourage
people to wear gumboots is because
when you are feeling negative, it is like
you are in wading through the mud.
Not many people
wore gumboots except some students and teachers.
In the morning of 5th of April [Gumboot
Day].

On Gumboot Friday, we made cards filled with one quote each.
The quote had to be
positive and uplifting.
It was a cool and fun thing to do, even if it
was only for a little while.
In one of my ones, I wrote, ‘Be the change you wish
to see in the world’ with an earth on the
bottom. I made that one on Tuesday.

This idea came from the Healthy Puketapapa Student Questionnaire.
We did this
questionnaire and we had to pick what we thought is needed
in the neighbourhood.
Almost half of the students said to improve Mental Health.
So we decided to send cards to
some people around the neighbourhood. This idea
came from a student named Neeve.
It was
really entertaining. But it was short yet really sunny.
We went back inside of school after if we
didn’t have anymore cards.

Did you know all of this connects to our inquiry theme this year,
Hauora/wellbeing?
Mental health connects with this because
we are doing lots of random acts of kindness.
In my opinion, all of this was a magnificent idea. It is also very cool of how it relates to
Well being. My favourite part was when we delivered the Cards.

Blog ya next term!😉
