Art Rotations

During Term Two, the middles and seniors have been designing clothes. Specifically clothes that people would wear on occasions in their countries.  Weeks afterwards, students voted which clothes they liked best and once they were chosen, we used the features in each to design one outfit. Later on, the teachers decided a cultural outfit for a girl and boy. Hauraki, (my class), did an Afghani boy and Sri Lankan girl.

The purpose of this project is to create a collection of wooden figures on our fence, to show many of the different cultures represented within Waikowhai. This will also help to show our Respect for different people and cultures to the wider community.

When we decided which dress we were going to paint, the teachers used a student to trace as their person on this material we were going to be painting on.

Our teachers drew the design on the material and later each teacher would send little groups of students to paint their class's person. I found my class's paintings impressive but some the other class's ones really dazzled me just as much! I really liked how all the teachers were very creative and made such beautiful paintings, that aren't even finished with only limited colours. I would prefer better brushes though, but painting alone is good enough for me!
