Summer Learning Journey, Task 2

My next task was to   think critically.

In the capital of Spain, which is Madrid,  there is a very common activity called ''bullfighting''.
This activity is violent which is why some people in Spain doesn't support doing it or do it. Although some people do this. Bullfighting is when a man or a woman has a red blanket and under that there is a knife and so you stab it on the bull. I know it's s sad, if I were in Spain I wouldn't do it, in fact I would want it banned because so Bulls won't get extinct and and so they can help carry heavy stuff that we can't carry with their strength.

Here is a photo of bullfighting(I know, pretty scary, huh?)

Summer Learning Journey, Task 1

                           Archive activity:
                       Chile

5 reasons why I picked this country and would like to visit it....
  • Spanish seems like an interesting language
  • Chilean rodeo seems cool and different to other sports
  • They have 14 national holidays to celebrate
  • The Andean condor bird sounds unusual
  • The flag looks simple but also good
My task was to pick a country and to blog it. There was a link to the country so you can find information. Here is a photo of the information I found about Chile

3 facts about Chile
  • The largest pool in the world is in Chile
  • There are some penguins in Chile
  • The official name for Chile is Republic of Chile

Refection on the ''This is me'' show

The reflection to the  'This is me' showπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‰

On the 25th of September we went to Waikowhai Intermediate to watch their very first show 'This is me'. Different schools were invited. May road school was one of them. It was half and hour but it was really entertaining. It was all about personality, diversity and differences. I think why they did it is because their school is a place where you can be yourself. They showed this by doing dances, monologues and singing/choir. My favourite part of the show was the contemporary dance because the song and the their moves were related to each other. But all of the parts of the show were awesome. We are having production next term so we had to to do a reflection about the show, and watch the show carefully so we can be prepared for our production and see what it is like. After we came back from the the show, we discussed about the show and talked about what was done in the show. We then had to do thinking hats. Thinking hats are different coloured hats and they all mean something. For example the black hat, it means 'What were the negative things' in it. But there are different types of hats and each one has a question you need to answer. This is my reflection

If you want to know a bit more information about this then you can go to Waikowhai                       Intermediate's website and can copy and paste the link down below:

Literacy Tumble

                         Literacy tumble

This term we have been doing Literacy tumble. It is a subject we now do in school that contain slideshows in different colours, which represents a must do, should do or a could do. They are activities we do with our we can do with writing or reading groups. There also some activities we do individually like creative writing. We do this everyday until Thursday and then a different one the next week, I think it gets harder and harder each time. We have a schedule in our Language book, it says when we are gonna learn stuff and which room we are gonna be in. We would be either with our writing or reading groups or doing our slideshow. Most of the slides were about writing or reading. But some were not like Cybersmart. It is really fun because the different activities can be fun like creative writing and commenting. One of the things we couldn't do was to change the font or background because it will distract us from the work.

Copy and paste this if you want more information

Waikowhai Primary school's Art festival

               Waikowhai Art festival

This week on Tuesday and Wednesday we had the art festival, in  our class were doing bird painting, it

had to be a endangered bird native (only live in New Zealand) to New Zealand.

The bird I done for the painting is a morepork/Ruru  because it was the fist bird I thought of. Also  because it was my house group name. I think what I should do with my painting is make the head smaller and less wide next time. I used different type of browns because the ruru has lot's of brown feathers.I also done some yellow on it's eyes since the ruru is nocturnal (awake at night) it's eyes will be big so it can see in the dark, night sky.

My background for my painting was the ruru sitting on a tree branch at night.I done some bushes with a darker green. The night sky was a dark kind of blue with no stars in the sky and with  tree leaves. The tree leaves were light green and the background was dark so it stand out quite nicely. I thought it was alright,I think I should have made my bird more thin  and have sharper edges. One thing I really liked is the trunk because it blends with the black and brown.

We also done a house. We had to collect soft plastic from each class over 8 weeks. We are doing this because people litter and pollute the world. Are we going to allow littering to our own house and pollute the world? We made a slide show/presentation that is about what are plastic and are not  plastic. It also talks about the message and what we are doing to the house. We made a sign to show our families about the house and what's it for,we done it  on a google drawing. It could be about animals being harmed and about what  we are doing  to the house. We could use anything, our teacher showed the class scribble. Then the teachers laminated our sign.

This is photo of the house (this was when we didn't put the soft plastic)

We also done weaving. We used different kind of coloured yarn and got to choose any colour. All of Te Waka ako done it, and it was so much fun. How we do it  is we go over and under until the yarn is finished. Since we didn't finish it, the weaving was moved to the art show so other people can help finish too.

This is a photo of the weaving we have done

Auckland Zoo trip

                          Blogging about the Zoo

                        Walt:Report,Recount and Reflect
When: On Thursday 14th June we got to school at a quarter to 9.

Where: We went to our school and waited till we got Auckland Zoo

What: As we got to the Zoo we had to wait and listen to the rules by a guide in the Zoo. We saw a lot of animals and some animals moved to new areas to live.

Why: The reason why we went to the Zoo is because our topic for inquiry is about endangered NZ animals.

Who: There were some people in the Zoo that showed us animals around the Zoo and told us more about them. There were also some parents who were there to take care of us.

How:We got transported to the amazing Auckland Zoo by a double Decker bus which was so so high.

My favourite animal was the Meerkat because it was running and standing. When it was running, it was so fast. I thought it kinda looked like a stoat but in different colour. It was adorable and cute.

We also saw a Kea, our guide told us that the kea is smarter and cheekier than children. Our activity was to find all 4 keas, if we found all 4 of them then we are smarter.

We went to the bug lab it was so amazing because it was filled with games. My favourite thing in the bug lab was this hive, we had to rub very fast to make it hot. In the first try it was so hard because I rubbed very hard, but there was a hint to rub fast not hard.

Something I would have done better is to explore more of the places and do more games, but it was still amazing. My favourite animal in the Zoo would have to be the meerkat and the kea. The kea had beautiful feathers and the meekat was so cute.
